Features that Make OPIS an Effective Tool

  • Clean, intuitive web-based interface. - Easy access to the various areas of the system (Near Miss Reports, Lessons Learned Reports, etc.) and easy access to the various functions within each area (New, Browse, Search, etc.).
  • Streamlined report entry - For example, a near miss report has several fields for management follow-up, but when a user submits a new report, none of these "extraneous" fields are shown; the user gets a simple form with only a couple of fields to fill in. Ease of use is a critical factor when asking your personnel (who are already busy) to use a new system.
  • Context-sensitive help - Not sure what information to put in a field? Just click the help icon to the right of the field for a pop-up description.)
  • Role-based access rights - Configure for roles that make sense for your organization. View and edit rights can be assigned for the various areas of the system, down to the individual fields in a report.
  • Automatic notifications - Configurable messages are sent (by e-mail and/or within OPIS) when specific "events" occur. For example, a "Near Miss Coordinator" role can be created and designated to be sent a message whenever a new near miss report is submitted.
  • Centralized corrective action (recommendation) tracking - Recommendations generated from the various areas of the system can be tracked to resolution in the Corrective Actions area. The person responsible for each item can add status and followup information. Periodic reminders are sent to the responsible person for unresolved items.
  • Comprehensive search capability - Having information in a database is of limited use if you cannot effectively access and analyze that information. OPIS includes comprehensive search capabilities to help you review and monitor OPIS information.
  • Designed to grow with your organization - OPIS is designed to allow easy customization for you organization, including adding, removing, and renaming reports and report fields. It is also designed to allow easy addition of new reports as your organization evolves.
