Systems Engineering is the professional, intellectual, and academic discipline concerned primarily with improving the processes of decision making in the planning, design, construction, operation, and management of complex systems. The essence of Systems Engineering approaches is that all of these engineering functions are directed not toward hardware systems alone, but toward, integrated performance of the entire system, which includes people, software, and hardware. At Concord, we emphasize the application of systems engineering principles and concepts to improve performance of operational systems. We call this continuous improvement process Systems Performance Engineering.
